Well on a daily basis the answer is to keep healthy – eat lots of fruit and vegetables and avoid sugar and sweets and take regular exercise. But in the long term , say 50 years from now, that won’t be enough because the Earth’s climate might be too harsh for plants to grow and animals who rely on the plants (like us) might not survive. The best way to adapt is to become as self sufficient as possible – have a greenhouse in your garden and grow your own food, choose plants that like Ireland’s climate (or a warmer future climate) and they will survive better and have some hens for eggs and maybe some animals for milk and eventually you could eat them for meat. The way your house is built and where it is located is also important. Stay away from coastlines and rivers and build a house that does not use too much energy (have double glazed windows) and is green on the top with a layer of grass instead of a slate roof. That will keep your house cool in summer and warm in winter. You could even grow plants to eat on your roof, like tomatoes and courgettes!
