      Stephen O'Connor answered on 6 Mar 2019:

My typical day at work involves:

      – setting up experiments inside huge chambers where I expose materials to space-like conditions
      – analysing the materials using instruments such as microscopes and spectrometers
      – using software to process data and visualise it with plots and images
      – writing reports with the results and what I have learned
      – sharing my results with colleagues
      – reading colleagues’ reports
      – discussing our findings
      – reading scientific papers
      – expanding on current theory

I also have some time to learn about what others are doing through talks, workshops and meetings which gives me a better perspective on the different pieces that are put together to make a satellite. It makes everyday unique and really fun.
